I am a begginner in the world of skinning, and hope to become as good as some of the other authors I have seen out there.
I was once able to skin yahoo messenger 7.0 by selecting the yahoo classic skin in the yahoo messenger change skin dialog. Once that was done when ever I change a windowblind skin, the gui would also be applied to the yahoo messenger interface as well.

After upgrading to the new version of yahoo messenger build (8.1.0.249) yahoo messenger no long skins, while in the classic skin theme, no matter waht skin is applied with WindowBlinds 5 (5.5 (build 94 x86).

What I would like to know is there any way to cause the new version of yahoo messenger 8 to skin with windowblinds 5? If so can some one show me what I need to do?

Thank you.

I do not use Yahoo but you could try this...rightclick on your desktop, select properties..Appearance...Advanced and check ..force coloring support on all skins, close that window & make sure that you click on Apply

Yahoo and windowblinds has always had a conflict each time yahoo upgrades they change codes and either messenger will not skin or it causes messenger to crash whenever you rightclick on it. I use old version of yahoo because I was tired of having to put it in the exclude list in Windowblind Config. Is there a chance you added it to the "Per Application" in WB Config by accident?

I did ask someone that is using newest yahoo and they are having no problem with WB's skinning it in the usual way.

Hi, I have tried what both of you suggested and my yahoo still does not skin.

Fairyy, you mention did I add it in to the per aplication config by accident, I added it there on purpose thinking that I should add it there to cause yahoo to be skinned, but it seems as though you are saying that I should not have done that, but it does not work while it is added there nor if its not.

I do not know how to get it to skin, maybe you can ask your friend for help, and maybe see if they have the same build of yahoo as I have.

Thank you.

Ok guys I think I found out what the problem was with the newest version of yahoo not skinning with windowblinds. I did a search on google about problems with yahoo and windowblinds and found one that mention how yahoo would crash when right clicked ect.

One of the possible fixes was, "right click on yahoo icon go to properties, then compatibility, then check disable visual themes." but when I follow their fix I notice my "disable visual themes" was already selected, so all I did was unselect it hoping that my problem will be solved, surprisingly that fixed my problem. LOL

My yahoo messenger build (8.1.0.249) now skins with stardock's windowblinds.

Thanks

if i enable visual themes by right click on yahoo icon /properties/compatibility
and set yahoo skin in preferences on classic and also dont put it in per aplication
my yahoo 8.1 it skins with windowblinds BUT it brakes down if right click on it's icon or click on emoticons icon...so i guess thats not a solution...

What version of WindowBlinds do you have installed?

on Feb 29, 2008
I myself on the other hand, I have tried doing everything so far. No such luck at integrating windowblinds into my messenger.

Some yahoo skins that I have downloaded will not work either, but others do. Still cannot even get that right. Anyone have any suggestions?

for me my ym works fine except when i installed windowblinds...
but changing my ym's skin to classic did the job and now my ym works fine....

maybe there is a conflict between yahoo's skinning and windowblinds...

Yahoo messenger: 8.1.0.421
Windowblinds 5 enhanced

also tested with windowblinds 6 enhanced./....
