I am a begginner in the world of skinning, and hope to become as good as some of the other authors I have seen out there.

Hello, i have windows vista home basic, and windowblinds 6.0 worked perfectly, but after updating my windowblinds through sdc objectdesktop, to windowblinds 6.2 now none of my windowblinds styles work. when i try to apply skins to vista, they only displays windows classic no matter which skin I try to apply. I have un-installed it and am now waiting to know what to do to fix this problem.

Also i want to report that when i windowblind was working before i updated to 6.2, that none of the windowblinds that was created by stardock design team that have some kind is see through (aero) section does not work properly, like the solarion skin, it only displays as solid, but all the other skins by other designers that have the vista aero effect work with no problem.

and finally i just wanted to know is there a way to cause icons to display in the vista start menu like they do in xp?

Thank you

and, are you using restricted (non-administrative) logons?

(hating to stick my nose in, but it's screaming at me)

have you tried a clean reinstall of windowblinds instead of just updating through SDC?

SDC is the reccommended method of update and is more likely to work than the stand-alone installer.

Sorry. What I meant was, have you tried uninstalling windowblinds through SDC, restarting, then installing it again (through SDC)? Sometimes I find that when updating through SDC some files don't update correctly for whatever reason, but an uninstall/redownload entire program seems to fix some problems. And also, run SDC as administrator.

OK . . that makes more sense.

I too have had transparancy issues since updating (through Stardock Central).

Even unloading Windowblinds and trying to revert to Aero gets involved and requires rebooting.

I am going to uninstall WB and do a clean install. If issues persist after that I will come back with full details.

My problems continued so I uninstalled all Stardock products, then installed Stardock Central and re-installed all products using SC. Everything now fine again.

Excelent! However if you should get any further problems please let us know at support@stardock.com.

I spoke too soon Seabass  (

As per your suggestion, I have responded to support with below info.

Today I uninstalled all Stardock programs from my computer, including skin library. I then reinstalled a new download SDC, and used SDC to gradually rebuild. Icons, OD, TweakVista and finally WB.

Initially, WB worked properly. Now, several hours later and after a cold boot, I have lost transparancy again. To regain it, I have to unload WB, reboot, and then follow standard procedures to enable Aero. After applying WB again, and rebooting, I lose transparancy.

Any assistance that can be offered would be appreciated because transparancy is a key feature in my view. To lose it, including in Windows Vista is a real nuisance. Thank you.
