I am a begginner in the world of skinning, and hope to become as good as some of the other authors I have seen out there.
Manual editing of the Logon Screen UIFile

Hello skinners!

My name is Aaron Bryant Jr., on wincustomize.com its (firstliight), yes with two (I’s).
I am from Chicago, IL, I am posting this article because I am trying to learn to design skins of all kinds, be they boot skins, logon screens, window blinds, or sys. I have learned how to build boot skins so fare, and now I am trying to learn how to create a logon screen, next will be my first window blind.

I am trying to create a logon screen where the user account and user pictures do not have any alpha fading or alpha animation, to my astonishment logon studio does not have away to do this through its interface. To my dismay I have found out that what I would like the user account to do, have to be manually entered in the UIFile using notepad.

My study of logon screens has led me to look for some examples of logon screens that do not have the user account fading in and out. Then I came across a logon screen entitled "Apollo" which was created to accompany a window blind by MikeB, also holding the same name as the logon screen.

I noticed that the user account of the Apollo logon screen is faded out only a tiny bit, and is not almost completely faded out like most logon screens that I guess are defaulted to do. I can see that the graphic and the user accounts pictures have almost no fading in an out when one moves the mouse over them. I don’t want the user account of the logon screen I am designing to fade in and out at all; it’s just that I do not know how to stop it from doing that.

I was lucky enough to catch up with MikeB in a chat forum and I ask him if he knew how to stop all the alpha fading of the user accounts on the logon screen and he said that he had not designed a logon screen in a while and could not remember at the moment. He also let me know that he was not the person that created the Apollo logon screen anyway, but that he gave permission to a designer who goes by the name "hallucination" on wincustomize.com to create the logon screen.

Besides this forum I have also made an attempt to contact "hallucination" to ask him the same questions I am posting in this forum. I have not received a response from him yet.

What I am trying to designing is a logon screen for the Terminator 3 window blind that was made by the Skin Factory; I have already designed a matching boot skin and wallpaper, but I am having some problems editing the logon screens UIFile manually. This is where my problem comes in, when I look at all of the code in the UIFile it all looks like a foreign language to me. I dont' even know what language the UIFile is written in

I was hoping that some very knowledgeable logon developer, or just some one that would be kind enough to help me sort it all out, would help me with the code? If there is some one that could, this is what I would like to know…

Could you show which part of the code in the UIFile should be changed so that the user accounts do not fade in and out at all, but displays the graphics clearly on the logon screen? Once I place the graphics of the logon screen, how do I set the, no tile, tiling, and the stretch manually in the UIFile's code? And what parts of the code do I need to modify to move the user account and the shut off button on the logon screen to a different position of the logon screen? If there is any other thing I need to know about the alpha fading on the use accounts please feel free to take a newbie under the wing.

I hope that someone can help me.
